London? Really?

The frogs would have done a better job, probably. There will be myriad cock-ups, as they say up there, and the idea that Ken Livingston can take satisfaction from this decision is annoying. On the other hand, it is nice to know that Chirac placed so much importance on winning, and now can go to Gleneagles and eat crow. (I hope they have crow on the menu, after Jacque's remarks about British cuisine.)

Lest there was any doubt about whether the best man won, the French media are all on about how the British campaign pushed the borders of correct competition. So today's decision was, in the end, a good one.

And today I was called a "cheeky git".
